FAO CITES AUSTRALIAN The influential UN Food and Agricultural Organisation (FAO) argues that livestock and pastoral systems have a major role to play in climate change mitigation and cites the work of Australian Dr Christine Jones, an independent scientist who in 2005 convened a conference around the role of soil carbon in climate change. This put the issue on the agenda in rural Australia five years ahead of the FAO study. Dr Jones will be a keynote speaker at Angus Australia’s 2010 National Conference in Albury, NSW, on April 27. |
