Roundup Rules & Regulations

There are several rules and regulations participants must be aware of prior to Roundup.

In reading the Entry Form and submitting your registration, you agree to abide by the following Conditions of Entry.

1. By agreeing to these conditions of entry the participant or parent/guardian if participant is under 18 years of age, agree to indemnify the Roundup Committee and Angus Australia against any claim resulting from any accident or sickness that may occur at the event or associated with the event.
2. Any unacceptable behaviour, including disrespect for COVID regulations, as defined by the Roundup Committee, will not be tolerated and may result in disqualification and/or exclusion from the grounds.
3. The participant, or parent/guardian if participant is under 18 years of age, gives Angus Youth consent to reproduce the photography and videography of the participant in news related items without acknowledgement or payment. This may include printed or electronic form and may be available to a global audience via the internet and social media. The copyright ownership of the photography will be retained by Angus Youth and the official photographer.
4. Management and control of the Roundup is the responsibility of the Organising Committee and the Angus Roundup Coordinator, and their decision shall be final. Any issues/complaints arising during or as a result of the event should be addressed directly to the Angus Youth National Roundup Committee.

Participants:

5. Participants must be between 8 and 26 years as at 6/10/2022.
6. Participants must be or must become Angus Youth members to compete.
7. Participants are encouraged to remain on the grounds during the designated hours of the program.
8. Participants or their parent/guardian will be responsible for organising accommodation, as designated sleeping areas will not be provided.
9. A security guard will be present from 7pm to 7am around the cattle sheds.
10. Participants who leave the grounds do so at their own responsibility. The Roundup Committee will take no responsibility for the safety, care or behaviour of any participant who leaves the grounds.
11. By agreeing to these conditions of entry the participant, or parent/guardian if participant is under 18, give permission to be transported by private vehicle to seek medical advice in the case of an emergency.
12. There will be no smoking on the grounds including in the cattle sheds, toilets, eating area or judging rings.
13. No alcohol will be permitted on the grounds. Individuals not abiding to this rule will face immediate disqualification and exclusion from the grounds.
14. No glass is allowed on the grounds.
15. Enclosed footwear must be worn at all times (eg. Boots).
16. Shirts will be supplied to all participants whose entries are received by the closing date.
17. Entry fees are refundable prior to the 6 September 2022, with participant shirt cost deducted. No refunds will be made after the 6 September 2022. However, if the 2022 NH Foods Angus Youth Roundup is postponed due to COVID, you will be contacted to confirm how you would like to proceed with your registration and/or offered a full refund.
18. If the participant is not currently a member of Angus Australia, by completing this form they agree to abide by the Constitution and Regulations of the Angus Society and Angus Youth.

Grounds:

19. Any form of advertisement is not permitted to be shown in the cattle shed, unless the advertiser is an official sponsor of the 2022 NH Foods Angus Youth National Roundup, in which case advertising material will be distributed at the discretion of the Roundup Committee. Angus Youth curtains will be hung above the cattle during the Roundup.
20. All electrical equipment must have an in-line circuit breaker and all power leads must have a current certificate from a registered electrician as required by law.
21. Decorative pots/flowers are not allowed.

Cattle:

22. Participants under the age of 18 as at the 6 October 2022 may only enter one animal each. If space allows competitors over the age of 18 are permitted to enter up to two (2) animals, however, must have the understanding that the second animal may be used as a ballot if required. The Roundup Committee reserves the right to re-allocate extra animals as ballots, at any time during the Roundup. All competitors will be notified after the closing of entries if we are able to cater for extra animals, after which competitors may apply for an additional entry.
23. All bulls and heifers must be Black Angus HBR or Red Angus HBR registered with the Angus Australia Society or the Red Angus Society and must comply with the rules and regulations of each association.
24. Steers must be at least 50% black or red Angus and have no more than two permanent teeth.
25. Age of cattle will be taken from the 1 October 2022.
26. Heifers must be under 24 months of age. Animals with calves at foot are eligible for heifer or cow classes. The maximum age for the calf at foot is 9 months.
27. Bulls must be under 16 months of age. Handlers of bulls over 12 months of age must be 16 years or older.
28. To be eligible for the owned and bred class the animal must be registered in the exhibitor’s name and the exhibitor must have bred the animal themselves. You must state on your entry form which animal you wish to enter in this class. Steers are not eligible for the owned & bred class.
29. Cattle will be divided into classes according to age, sex and the number of entries received.
30. All cattle must be led with a nose clip/ring and must be tied with a neck strap and secure halter at all times. All bulls over 9 months of age must be fitted with a nose ring.
31. Cattle must have correct and legible tattoos/brands to be eligible for entry to the event.
32. You must supply your Property Identification Code (PIC) with your Entry Form. Animals will be recorded on the NLIS database as ‘sighted’ at the Wodonga Showgrounds, after the event the cattle will automatically go back to being registered on their pre-Roundup PIC.
33. A Herd Health Declaration must be submitted for all animals.
34. Pestivirus testing is mandatory for all cattle, and a Pestivirus certificate showing a negative result must be submitted for individual animals.
35. All paperwork for cattle entries including NVDs, Animal Health Statements, and Pestivirus certificates must be submitted to the Roundup Event Coordinator Toni Nugent, E: toni@toninugent.com.au by 26 September 2022. Failure to submit may mean cattle cannot be received into the competition.
36. Any animal infected with ringworm must have a vet certificate stating that the animal has been treated or washed in the previous four (4) days with appropriate fungicide. Further washings are to be carried out on the showground under supervision of a committee member.
37. Liability in relation to any cattle remains with the owner. It is strongly recommended that livestock owners are covered by a current insurance that extends to shows.
