Angus influenced success in Adelaide
Angus influenced steers had a successful outing in the Royal Adelaide Show steer and carcase competition taking out a number of major awards, following the introduction of a crossbred category.
The Champion crossbred steer was a Speckle Park cross Angus steer, that weighed 568kg with 117 EMA, 12mm rib and 16mm rump fat, exhibited by Mount Compass Area School.
The Reserve champion crossbred steer was a was 448kg Limousin cross Angus steer with a 90 EMA and 8mm rib and rump fat, exhibited by Glental Partnership.
The same steer went on to also win Reserve Champion crossbred carcase.
Champion crossbred carcase was awarded to a Simmental cross Angus steer, with a HSCW of 259.4kg, 10mm rump, 5mm rib fat, 87EMA and overall score of 92.74/100. The steer was exhibited by Willunga High School.
While the Champion Eating Quality Carcase was a SimAngus steer exhibited by TR & EA Baker.
