Dear Members,

On behalf of the Board of Directors, Management and Staff, I would like to extend to all our members and stakeholders our sincere best wishes at Christmas! May the season of Christmas and New Year be a time to rest and have time with people who are very important in our lives.

We know 2024 wasn’t an easy year: while it was a good year in the north, it was tough in the south and continues to be hard in pockets.

2024 has been a huge year for the society, and we end this year with a different focus we plan towards showcasing the very best of the Angus breed in Australia to our worldwide colleagues. The time, energy and finances invested in making the 2025 Neogen World Angus Forum a success is unprecedented in Angus history in Australia. This well could be the largest project attempted by the society.  I encourage everyone to participate, come along, make connections and maximise the opportunity provided to showcase their business.

There were so many activities throughout 2024 – too many to name all of them! Some key projects were a highly successful Beef Australia, the launch of Angus SteerSELECT, and we were delighted to announce the completion of angus.tech and a full and complete transition away from the ILR2 system.

I would like to thank all of our members for your support in so many ways – growth continued again. The society is in good shape financially and by every metric. Without the strength of the membership we have, the breed would not exist in its current form.

“It is a great privilege to serve the membership as CEO, and I thank you for the opportunity. People often ask me what the secret of Angus is? There are many answers regarding the breed, but in terms of our organisation, it really is the board culture and decision making over a long period of time”.

I would like to thank the Board of Directors as we close the year for their voluntary time, energy and stewardship of the breed. Special mention needs to be made of our President Sinclair Munro. Sinclair’s leadership and hard work may sometimes go unseen, but it is significant. Finally, I would like to thank both our hard working staff and the many volunteers who assist the society.

I look forward to seeing many of you throughout 2025, particularly in our many World Angus Forum activities.

Yours sincerely,

Scott Wright
