We are delighted to announce the participation of the Red Angus Society of Australia team in the Zoetis World Angus Youth Competition in 2025! This talented group of young leaders will join teams from around the world to compete in a series of dynamic challenges that highlight their skills and passion for the Angus breed. 

The Zoetis World Angus Youth Competition will test their abilities in a variety of areas, from cattle management and genetics to sustainable practices in beef production. We are confident that the Red Angus Society of Australia team will rise to the challenge, showcasing their strength, dedication, and the incredible potential of the Red Angus breed. 

This is a fantastic opportunity for the team to connect with their global peers, build lasting friendships, and learn from the best in the industry.

MEET THE TEAM 

Taylah Hobbs – Team Captain 

Taylah grew up in Molong, where she developed a strong connection to agriculture, raising Red Angus cattle and fostering a passion for the livestock industry. Taylah currently works for Holbrook Breeders, a leading bovine reproduction company, where she specialises as an embryologist, contributing to the advancement of genetic breeding programs.

This role has deepened her knowledge of animal reproduction and science. Building on this experience, she is set to begin a Bachelor of Animal Science at Charles Sturt University in Wagga Wagga this year. Taylah’s journey reflects a commitment to animal science, innovation, and supporting the agricultural community.  

 

 


Monty Lawson 

Since he was born Monty grew up on a seed stock operation down in Victoria, breeding Angus, Red Angus, composites and Charolais. Having always had an interest in cattle and genetics Monty has gained experience with EBVs, single site mating and bull selection.

Since finishing boarding school in 2023, he has been working in central west Queensland on a large scale station in which runs a mainly black Angus cross herd.   

 

 

 


Lachlan Moore 

Lachlan is  22 years old and from the Mid Coast of New South Wales. Lachlan developed his passion for the livestock industry through showing cattle at his high school. In 2019 Moorevale Red Angus was created which then became Moorevale Cattle Company to encompass both their Red Angus Stud but also their Simmental Stud and commercial operation.

In 2019 they purchased their first Red Angus heifer from auction and since then have been slowly growing while maintaining the high quality that was started with. In his current job Lachlan manages a seedstock and commercial cattle operation as well as also running a cattle fitting service for select clients.   

 

 


Ryan Knee 

Ryan was born in Tamworth and grew up in the Loomberah area completing year 10 and then going onto work at Dungowan Station which is located just outside Tamworth. Ryan has completed his Certificate III in Agriculture which has given him a good base.

Having started his Red Angus stud in 2015 and built up to 30 -40 breeders with success at local and Royal shows this has provided him the knowledge, connections and buyers that will last a lifetime. With using IVF and conventional flushing this allows him to use genetics from Canada and North America to enhance and widen their gene pool within the herd.
