The NSW State Angus Committee met early in December at Sydney. Planning of State Committee activities for the 2017 Sydney Royal Show is well underway. The Angus breed judging will be held on Sunday 9th April from 9 a.m. Prize money offered to high scoring Angus steers in the RAS Hoof and Hook show has been increased to reward Angus steers scoring more than 85 points in the carcase section.

Record nominations have been received for the Norman Lethbridge award supporting students wishing to pursue a career in agriculture. Sponsored by the Booroomooka Angus stud and organised by the NSW State Angus Committee, the winners will be announced at the Sydney Royal Show Angus judging.

Planning for the 2019 Angus Centenary Feature Show has commenced with the establishment of a subcommittee chaired by Tim Lord, KO Angus. It is anticipated that this will be a major event on the 2019 Angus breed calendar.

Results of the NSW members survey were analysed and will provide a starting point in an Angus Australia review of state based activities to be carried out in 2017. The survey respondents demonstrated support for state based activities, but also identified a need for increased communications between the State Committee and the general membership.
