End of year gathering for NSW State Committee

For their final get together for 2019, members of the NSW State Committee came together in Cowra NSW at the end of November. 

 Following their committee meeting, there were three presentations attended by the members and their guests. 

  • Dr Gordon Refshauge – pre-eminent livestock researcher based at Cowra research station
    Topic:  Understanding and improving an animal’s ability to cope with heat stress in hotter/drier summer conditions

  • Mr Ben Hill – Stud Principal, Bulliac Angus
    Topic: – Overview of the USA beef cattle seed stock and commercial sector from his recent tour through numerous states and leading AI centres and studs. 
    – Making sense of the value of a $1.5 million bull recently sold by the Schaff Angus Valley program 
  • Mr Mark Lucas – Angus Australia State Chair, Reiland Angus
    Topic: Angus Breed Reflections 

Following the presentations there were networking drinks part sponsored by Bill Cornell from ABS, followed by a retirement dinner and trivia night for Richard Buck. 

Mr Buck had a great send off from friends and fellow members with some great stories shared. 

 Also retiring from the committee was Derek Lotz, whom was recognised for his service over the years, with a presentation of a parting gift. 

Matthew Macri from Skyfall Angus, acknowledged the contributions from both Mr Buck and Mr Lotz, ‘As a new member to Angus Australia, both Richard and Derek have welcomed me into the Angus community and they will be missed 

 I wish them the best for their retirement and thank them for their friendship over the last 2 years and into the future.
