‘Kaitiakitanaga: Guardians of the land for future generations’, the theme that thirteen young beef industry leaders are being challenged on over the course of four days during the 2024 GenAngus Future Leaders Program taking place in Christchurch, New Zealand.
The emerging leaders are currently immersed in a four day intensive workshop that will seem them walk away with the skills and tools to help them leave their ‘legacy’ and their ‘jersey’ in a better place.
Day one began with team building and ice breaker sessions at Velocity Karts. The afternoon saw Pete Clarke from 21 Whispers delve in to mindset and set the participants up for their learning journey.
The day finished with the formal dinner and insights from Rhys Roberts CEO Align Farms, Lynda Coppersmith CEO New Zealand Young Farmers, Angus Australia CEO Scott Wright and President Sinclair Munro and finished up with a panel of 2023 GenAngus Alumni including Lori Fogarty, Zeke Bennett and Pete McNamara.
The evening finished with Emma Thomas, CEO of specialist agricultural insurer Achmea Australia addressing this year’s GenAngus participants, congratulating the successful young beef industry leaders and acknowledging their commitment to advancing the beef industry.
