We are thrilled to announce that a team from the American Angus Association will be joining us for the upcoming Zoetis World Angus Youth Competition! This prestigious event will bring together talented youth from across the globe to showcase their knowledge, skills, and passion for the Angus breed. 

The inclusion of the American Angus team adds an exciting international dimension to the competition, further enhancing the global nature of this unique experience. Their participation reflects the strong, collaborative bond between Angus youth worldwide and underscores the importance of fostering leadership and innovation in the beef industry. 

As the competition draws nearer, we look forward to seeing how these young leaders from the United States will contribute their expertise and perspectives, enriching the overall experience for all participants.

Meet the Team


Claire Stevenson 
Claire grew up on a multi-generational seedstock Angus cattle ranch in Central Montana. Growing up she was active showing and judging cattle as well as horses in Junior Angus, FFA, and 4-H. Claire learned to Artificially Inseminate at 12 and has had a fascination with reproductive physiology since. Her senior project for her Microbiology degree analysed the microbiome of the reproductive tract of yearling Angus bulls at the Cal Poly Bull Test. While attending Cal Poly, Claire also served as the Student Manager and Microbiology Specialist at the Meat Processing Center. Currently Claire is working on her masters degree in Animal Science at the University of Georgia Athens. Her studies focus on the reproductive microbiome of bulls with the hope of improving the understanding of measuring fertility. 

 

 

 

 


Tucker Stagemeyer 
Born on a diversified farm and ranch in Page, Nebraska, Tucker is no stranger to production agriculture. He grew up alongside three brothers competitively exhibiting Angus heifers on the state and national level. Some of his greatest accomplishments include winning the state fair multiple times, winning divisions at the American Royal, and being named the Champion Intermediate Stockman at the 2022 Angus Junior National. Currently, Tucker’s operation focuses heavily on the use of ET work to raise competitive show heifers backed by a registered Angus cow base and a cattle backgrounding aspect as well. Tucker is a sophomore at Butler Community College in El Dorado, Kansas where he majors in Ag Business and is a member of the nationally recognized livestock judging team. 

 

 

 

 

 


Jonwyn Ayres 
Jonwyn is a fifth-generation cattle producer, from Powers Oregon, and has competitively shown and sold registered cattle from coast to coast. Being on the Black Hawk livestock judging team, she has had notable wins, being named the high individual with the national champion team at Cattlemen’s Congress, an Academic All-American and consistently finding a place in the top ten in reasons at every national contestThis fall she is attending Oklahoma State University as a McKnight Leadership Scholar for Animal Science and Pre-Law. Jonwyn is the Vice Chairman of National Junior Angus Board of directors, and was top 5 at the coveted National Junior Angus Showmanship Contest. She understands that her involvement in the National Junior Angus Association and serving as an Oregon FFA State Officer has given her the tools to become an evaluator, encourager to all, and national speaker. She was also asked to give a prestigious TEDx Talk on the important topic of cattle and their positive impact on the environment. 

 

 

 

 


Garrett Handsaker  

Garrett is from Pearl City Illinois. He grew up on a small Angus operation raising Angus show cattle where he exhibited at the local state and national levels. Through high school Garrett was active in FFA and 4-H. In college he competed in livestock Judging while attending Casper college. Currently he is the herdsmen at Stone creek Angus where he manages 175 head of cows. Along with that he still works alongside his parents with their operation and sell 40 head of show cattle a year. The NJAA has given Garrett many opportunities to be competitive on the national level weather that be in or out of the showing and he looks forward to being able to continue that in Australia.
