Angus Australia and specialist agricultural insurer Achmea Australia are excited to deliver a new cadetship opportunity for Angus Youth members, with applications now open.
The Achmea Australia Cadetship builds upon a multi-year strategic alliance between Angus Australia and Achmea Australia, which has already supported more than 50 Angus Youth members through its flagship GenAngus Future Leaders Program.
Through the cadetship, one successful applicant will be given a four-week placement opportunity to gain practical experience at Achmea Australia, a growing agricultural insurer that plays an integral role in supporting the agriculture sector.
Emma Thomas, Achmea Australia Chief Executive Officer, said the cadet will experience the day-to-day operations within Achmea Australia, gaining insight into their co-operative heritage and commitment to the business continuity of farming.
“Following the success of the GenAngus Future Leaders Program, this new cadetship is another exciting opportunity for young people in the beef industry,” Emma said.
During their placement, the cadet will gain a wholistic agricultural insurance experience by following Achmea Australia’s client journey including:
- going on-farm alongside Achmea Australia’s dedicated Farm Insurance Specialists to get to know their clients and what they value most,
- understanding the importance of risk mitigation,
- helping to deliver Achmea Australia’s purpose of keeping farmers farming, and
- learning the basics of social media and event management.
“Our cadetship is aimed at Angus Youth members who want to work in the agriculture industry but may still be considering career options. This first-hand experience with Achmea-Australia is a chance to explore roles with an agribusiness that play an important part in supporting the resilience of Australia’s agricultural sector,” Jake Phillips, Extension Manager at Angus Australia said.
“The Industry Cadetship Program, which Angus Australia launched in March this year, reinforces the commitment of the Angus Foundation to encourage young people to get involved in the Australian beef industry and provide professional development opportunities for young beef breeders,” Jake said.
Following their placement with Achmea Australia, the successful applicant will conclude their cadetship by completing the Marcus Oldham Rural Leadership Course.
Applications for the Angus Australia – Achmea Australia Cadetship close 30 January 2023.
