Team “Oh Canada” Joins the Zoetis World Angus Youth Competition

We are beyond excited to welcome the Team “Oh Canada” from Canadian Angus to the Zoetis World Angus Youth Competition in 2025! As one of two teams representing Canada, this group of young leaders is ready to bring their skills, knowledge, and passion for the Angus breed to the global stage.
The Zoetis World Angus Youth Competition is a fantastic opportunity for talented youth from around the world to come together, learn from each other, and challenge themselves in a series of exciting and high-energy competitions.
“Oh Canada” will be competing in various challenges designed to test their expertise in everything from cattle management and genetics to sustainable farming practices.
The team’s involvement is not just about competition, but also about building global connections with fellow youth leaders, sharing ideas, and contributing to the development of the Angus breed worldwide. We look forward to seeing the Canadian team’s enthusiasm and expertise in action and are excited to cheer them on as they compete for the title of World Angus Youth Champion.

MEET TEAM OH CANADA
Sarah McDonald Team Captain
Sarah is from Vanderhoof, British Columbia where her family owns and operates a commercial Angus cattle ranch. She currently works for the British Columbia Cattlemen’s Association as the Industry Committee Coordinator. Sarah attended Lakeland College before transferring to the University of Saskatchewan where she recently graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Agribusiness. During post-secondary, she competed with Lakeland College and the University of Saskatchewan Livestock Judging Teams. Sarah served on both the British Columbia Junior Angus Association and Canadian Junior Angus Association Board of Directors, and had the pleasure of co-organizing the annual Guiding Outstanding Angus Leaders Conference in her home province in early 2024. Sarah is excited to connect with other Angus breeders from around the world and represent Canada at the Zoetis World Angus Youth Competition 2025!
Garrett Liebreich
Garrett grew up on a multi-generation family ranch near Radville Saskatchewan, Merit Cattle Co. His family operation runs about 200 purebred angus cattle and market their stock primarily through a female sale in December and bull sale in March. Garrett competed heavily at junior shows and in the 4-H program. After high school he attended Hutchinson Community College in Kansas on a livestock judging scholarship where he was a competitive member of their national team. Throughout college and after he has had the opportunity to work for some of the most prestigious operations around the world. Working on national champions in Canada, the states, Mexico and Australia. He is currently at the family farm with his parents, Trent and Janelle, building the Merit brand.
Keely Adams
Keely grew up on a purebred Red and Black Angus farm, Ter-Ron Farms, where she and her family run ~250 Angus cattle. She has had a true passion for the Angus breed since a very young age through showing cattle with her sisters and helping out with day-to-day operations on the farm. Growing up, she was very involved in the Canadian Junior Angus Association going to many of the junior shows and events, and was the Junior Ambassador in 2022/23. Now, Keely is currently in the Doctor of Pharmacy program at the University of Alberta and is expected to graduate in 2026 when she then hopes to go back around home to be a pharmacist and stay involved in the farm.
Lainie Muir
Lainie Muir, 21, calls Glenella, MB home where she is a first-generation purebred and commercial Black Angus cow-calf producer. Her involvement with the Angus breed began in 2017 and has since reached international lengths, attending events and interacting with fellow Angus enthusiasts across Canada and the United States. Lainie has a unique passion for the soil and plant communities that make beef cattle production possible. She studies agriculture at the University of Saskatchewan, specializing in soil science. Her commitment to Angus cattle is fuelled by the people, making her eager to build connections with others in attendance at the World Angus Forum. Lainie is the current Canadian Angus Junior Ambassador
