Dominant display by Angus in Sydney
It was another stellar showing for the Angus breed at this year’s Sydney Royal Easter Show, with Angus entries taking out all bar one of the interbreed awards on offer.
Under Judge, Wendy Mayne, Texas Angus, Ben Noller Palgrove Charolais and Ultrablack, and Ivan Price, Moongool Charolais, Pine Creek Great Northern R061, exhibited by Greg and Sharon Fuller, Pine Creek Angus was awarded the Urquhart Trophy for best interbreed individual beef exhibit after being crowned the interbreed Champion Bull.
The bull found competition in interbreed champion female, Diamond Ramblin Rose R422, exhibited by Christie Fuller, Diamond Angus.
This outcome followed the same result from the Angus ring, under Judge David Smith, when Great Northern, the Senior and Grand Champion Angus Bull, beat Ramblin Rose, the Senior and Grand Champion Angus Female.
The two interbreed champions then teamed up to take out the Hordern Perpetual Trophy for the best breed pair, judged by Anne Starr, Foxforth Herefords.
The Gordon Fuller Memorial Perpetual Trophy for the breeder’s group interbreed, judged by Troy Steer, Chief Executive Officer of Consolidated Pastoral Company, was awarded to Diamond Angus, exhibited by Christie Fuller.
The team was made up of the junior champion Angus bull, Diamond The Situation; the senior champion cow, Diamond Ramblin Rose and the second placed bull in the bull over 16 months and not over 18 months, Diamond Seven Deadly Sins.
