Richard, Susie, Benjamin, and Thomas Duddy, are pleased to announce the donation of an exceptional young female to the Angus Australia Foundation. This donation will be offered as Lot 1 in the inaugural Killain World-Class Genetics & Female Sale on March 7th, 2025, in Tamworth.

The heifer, Killain Blackcap May 34 U54, is a fully imported embryo from Schaaf Angus Valley (SAV) in North Dakota. She is a daughter of the iconic SAV Blackcap May 1416, a legendary female in the Angus breed, with 100% of the proceeds from her sale benefiting the Angus Australia Foundation.

“This donation is a heartfelt gesture of thanks for the invaluable experiences our family has gained through Angus Australia, particularly through the Angus Youth program,” said Richard. “Both Benjamin and Thomas have been incredibly fortunate to participate in Roundups and Youth events at Royal Shows, achieving great success. We want to give back to the Foundation that has given so much to our family.”

The SAV Blackcap May 1416 lineage is well-known in the Angus world. In 2016, the Duddy family travelled to Schaff Angus Valley with the goal of obtaining genetics from Blackcap May 1416, a direct daughter of SAV Blackcap May 4136, the world’s highest income-producing Angus female, whose progeny sales exceed $11.6 million USD. Blackcap May 1416 is also a full sister to the renowned sires SAV Resource 1441 and SAV Renown 3439.

Not only does Blackcap May 1416 boast an extraordinary pedigree, but she has also proven herself as a top producer with over $2 million USD in progeny sales. Her most notable offspring include:

  • SAV Scale House 0845, sold for $275,000 USD to Voss Angus in 2019.
  • SAV Dexter 3594, the 2024 high seller at $225,000 USD.

The donation heifer, Killain Blackcap May 34 U54, is sired by SAV Bloodline 9578, a high-selling bull from the 2020 SAV auction that fetched $250,000 USD.

Richard Duddy of Killain Angus said, “This sale is set to create significant opportunities within the Angus breeding community, particularly for young participants in the beef industry.”

Jake Phillips from Angus Australia added, “The funds raised from this sale will significantly support the Angus Foundation’s mission to advance youth development, education, and research in the beef industry.”

Killain Blackcap May 34 U54 will be offered as Lot 1 in the Killain Angus World-Class Genetics Sale on March 7th, 2025, marking another important milestone in the family’s commitment to the Angus breed in Australia.
