Call for Nominations: 2024 Stewart Award for Dedication to Angus Youth
Angus Australia is pleased to announce that nominations are now open for the 2024 Stewart Award! We invite members to nominate individuals who have made exceptional voluntary contributions to the Angus Youth Program, helping to foster the development and success of future generations in the Angus and beef industry.
The Stewart Award, originally known as the Angus Youth Helper of the Year Award, was commissioned in 2001 to honour those who dedicate significant time and energy to the Angus Youth Program. The award is named after Bruce and Pat Stewart of Dunlop Park Angus, Tasmania, who have been longstanding supporters of the program. Known for their selfless dedication, Bruce and Pat have travelled to Wodonga each year to assist with the Angus Youth National Judging Competition, providing support through various roles, from helping with logistics to offering guidance and mentorship to youth participants. Their efforts exemplify the spirit of the award and serve as an inspiration to the Angus community. It is with great sadness that Angus Australia acknowledges the passing of Pat Stewart and we extend our heartfelt condolences to Pat’s family, friends, and the Tasmanian Angus community.
Each year, the Angus Youth Consultative Committee selects the recipient(s) of the Stewart Award, honouring those who embody this same unwavering commitment to Angus Youth. The most recent recipient of the Stewart Award was Monique McKinnon, whom over the past five years has been a cornerstone of the Angus Youth program, tirelessly working to promote educational opportunities and inspire young members to pursue a career in the industry.
“Without the support of dedicated and generous people, the Angus Youth program would not be able to provide the opportunities to emerging members of the beef industry that we have been able to over the years,” said Angus Australia’s Jake Phillips. “If you recognise a person who has gone above and beyond to support the Angus Youth Program, we call upon you to nominate them for the Stewart Award.”
Nominations for the 2024 Stewart Award are open soon, so all Angus members are encouraged to submit their nominations for those they believe exemplify dedication, generosity, and a passion for nurturing the Angus Youth community.
