Get excited….less than a week before we all catchup at the Australian Equine and Livestock Events Centre (AELEC) in Tamworth for the 2024 NH Foods Angus Youth National Roundup.
Be prepared to get wet during the Barnyard Olympics on Wednesday afternoon! Bring a change of clothes if you would like to head home for the night in dry clothes.
It’s going to be hot in Tamworth so please remember to be sun-safe and bring sunscreen, a hat and a drink bottle. Water stations will be on-site for competitors to fill up their drink bottles throughout the day and don’t forget to reapply sunscreen throughout the day!
Please take some time to read the important information below in the lead up to Roundup.
Venue Details
Entry to AELEC and parking is via Gate 2 (refer to the site map). When you first arrive at Gate 2 at AELEC, you will be given a site map which will list the gate access code. You will need to enter this access code each time you arrive and leave the site in order to open and close the gate.
AELEC staff will be in the watch-house at Gate 2 from 3-6pm Tuesday 9 January for those bumping in cattle during this time, and again from 10am onwards on Wednesday 10 January. The gate will not be manned from Thursday – Sunday.
For those camping at AELEC, please enter via Gate 2 and follow Horseshoe Drive around to your camping sites located behind Stable Blocks D and E (southern side of the venue). There is a toilet block located at the end of Stable Block E that can be used for the duration of your stay. The camping area will be partitioned off from the general parking area.
If you have friends or family coming to watch any of the competition during the event, please ask them to park in the public carpark at the front of the AELEC venue and enter via the main entry. Please do not give out the access code for entry via Gate 2, this entry is only for competitors.

Cattle bump in
For those bringing cattle, bump in is Tuesday 9 January 3-6pm and Wednesday 10 January 9.30am-1pm. All trucks must enter AELEC through Gate 2 and follow Horseshoe Drive around to the Undercover cattle yards to unload on the southern side of the AELEC venue. Please note – No cattle or gear are to be on the grounds before 3pm Tuesday 9 January.
To assist with planning, please advise your estimated arrival time to Toni Nugent, Roundup Event Manager, E: toni@toninugent.com.au by 4 January.
Please ensure that all your gear (e.g. blowers, clippers, leads) is tested and tagged prior to arriving at AELEC.
A reminder to bring fans for cattle hoses for washing, clipping frames and also dividers if you have them.
Security will be onsite overnight in the cattle sheds during the event.

There are still some outstanding pestivirus and animal health declarations. It is a requirement of entry that these documents are submitted – failure to do so may mean cattle cannot be received into the competition. Don’t forget to include the AELEC Property Identification Code – NH508378.
Please send all outstanding paperwork through as a matter of urgency to Toni Nugent, E: toni@toninugent.com.au by 22 December 2023.
