The Glatz Family contributes to youth in ag with heifer donation

With today’s youth the future of the Australian beef industry, South Australian producers, the Glatz Family, have committed the proceeds of a heifer at sale to the Angus Foundation with the intention of supporting the development of the next generation of beef producers.

The Glatz Family of Glatz Black Angus will be auctioning Black Angus Adelaide U9sv (SJQ23U9) as lot 1 in their upcoming VIC Spring Bull Sale, taking place on property on September 9th, 2024 from 11am.

“As a family, we are thrilled to be donating the full sale proceeds for our registered heifer Black Angus Adelaide U9 to the Angus Foundation,” said Ben and Samantha Glatz and sons Dylan and Jack.

“Black Angus Adelaide U9 is a magnificent stud female selected from our top group of replacement heifers.

“Adelaide U9 expresses true quality of type and strength of pedigree – a real asset for a foundation breeder or an established herd. The prestigious Adelaide cow family traces right back to the original Glen Bold Adelaide 6th, born in 1968.

“Adelaide U9’s sire, Karoo Main Event M367 is a genuine cow maker. He is a proven sire, being breed elite for foot structure, positive fat and calving ease. Sons of Main Event have sold to $75,000.”

The family have made the decision to support the Angus Foundation through this generous donation in order to give back to the Angus community, and to give opportunity for young people, whether from the city or country to gain knowledge, experience and life-long networks in the great industry.

“Today’s youth are the future of our beef industry,” they said. “What makes this industry so unique is that one does not have to be born into it. For a young person not growing up on a farm, a successful career in our Australian beef industry can literally begin with a little curiosity.

“The crucial next step is having opportunity to become involved which then drives the passion to gain knowledge, experience, make life-long friends and a successful career.

“Our family are proud first-generation purchasers of farmland and breeders of registered Angus cattle. Our path in the beef industry has been made possible thanks to the early opportunities offered to us by cattle breeders, junior cattle events, Angus Assessment Schools, scholarships and other networking opportunities.”

The family hopes that through this donation, the Angus Foundation may continue to develop and foster young people within the beef industry to reach their full potential, ensuring the continuing of not only the Angus breed into the future, but a sustainable beef industry as a whole.

“This donation to the Angus Foundation is a way that Glatz Black Angus can contribute to youth development through education, scholarships, awards and bursaries. Hopefully, this contribution may encourage others to also give back to the Angus Foundation.

“The purchaser of Black Angus Adelaide U9sv can also be proud of their own contribution towards youth development for our beef industry. The prospect of a young Angus breeder taking ownership of this outstanding stud female would be very satisfying outcome for us at Glatzs Black Angus.”
